What Goes On

Why is Bombardier stock price dropping like a rock? Some negative news on the horizon or something that we haven't picked up on?gltal

My WAG is the combo of Gulfstream news with analysts' comments, plus another OEM commenting that they're seeing supply chain inflation and tightening.

If the market for business jets is really so hot; the Gulfstream news won't matter, it might even be a good news for all  for it will shorten the waiting time for the buyers and bring competition in the market. People with money who want a top quality jet will pay more and buy a Bombardier, those who want a cheaper one will buy a Gulfstream or a Falcon...all of the manufacturers will ...more

General Dynamics sp which is parent company of Gulfstream stock barely moved the next day after the 8 pm announcement. G800 is no threat, its shorter and has 300 NM more range. Not enough range to sacrifice space. Unless there is very strong headwind you dont need that extra 300 NM. Very rarely would G7500 not be able fly the sector that G800 can. Gulfstream is lossing confidence in their product ...more

Yes, hard to imagine the supply chain issues mentioned by the OEM would not also affect Bomba.  So, all their stock prices would take a hit. Regarding a competitor deciding to flood a mkt, that's also bad for all. These negative items are likely at least a bit of a surprise to many investors, and are the first bad news Bomba investors have had for awhile, meaning some of the momo money ...more

You do realize that each OEM signs contract with their suppliers on the quantity of parts and when they want the parts well ahead of time and put deposit down right. Just like bombardier receives deposit when someone orders an airplane from them, so does bombardier give deposit to suppliers to have part for them at date agreed on as per contract. Suppliers gets orders ahead of time so they have ...more

If a competitor is willing to accept a substandard ROI, that also lowers the ROI of everyone else.  I'm thinking the investors in this industry would be better off with 2-3 players instead of 4-5, but until that changes, you'll see excess competition at times. An OEM already said they're seeing supply chain tightening and inflation. If you dispute that, you'll need to show a ...more

If one competitor spends more to get little return then only their ROI will be affected. You are assuming competion is lowering the cost of their product. They are not. They are spending on multiple product which is making it more costly overall for them. Market for bizz jets are high and if supplier cant meet the demand then what do you think will happen to the price of less jets available. They ...more

If you could rephrase your arguments, that might be helpful.  Are you now saying that competition doesn't matter? That the supplier and Gulfstream news was already factored into the stock price?  That Bomba is immune to supplier problems that many companies across many industries are facing?  That the high demand was not already factored in?  I focus on news. Literally ...more

Re read my post. General Dynamics stock didn't budget after the announcement. Look it up. What you make out of it is your problem. Since you are talking about this nonsense of supplier issue do you think Gulfstream a day before revealing G400 and G800 they picked up pw812D and RR pearl engine and installed it . No. Both RR and Pratt were working on it for years. Both engines are flying so they ...more
