Traders versus investors

Bago got me thinking when he said that 'traders are investors'.

Of course it's nothing scientific, just the first thing that came up when I googled it...lol, but here's a good take on the difference between the two.

The main difference between a trader and an investor is the duration for which the person holds the asset. Investors tend to have a longer-term time horizon, while traders tend to hold assets for shorter periods of time to capitalize on short-term trends.

So traders are 'kind of' investors, not the real thing but they invest. Thats why it feels normal to say 'long term investors or short term traders' but not the opposite.

Seems like a trader is not an investor... but he does invest money still.

Bago - can't let this easy one slide..are you going to say I'm 'off topic' or that I don't bring anything?  ... and just in case... 'BBD isn't a turd today'... just so you can count it as a comment about how BBD is trading today.

Myname The term is for day traders as that is what they talk about being.  saying that you put up money to either day trade, or swing trade and call it investing, if that is a definition of it then so is roulette wheel investing since I have to put up money to play.

You got it Club. Bago is here to learn, wants people to bring something to the table.. he's going to know more about what are traders and investors now. He's gonna go to sleep a little less stupid tonight. (Absolutely not an insult .. since I use it for myself when I learn something)

just because you teach someone something doesn't mean they learn it , nor does it mean they will be smarter ... when someone says trading and investing is the same thing , they definately do not know what they are doing even if they get lucky with trades ..trading is gambling and goodluck to you if that is what you decide to do , but don't blame the roulette ball if the trade doesn't ...more

I have another Girlfriend too. Her name is Cohiba. She's friends with sherry oak macallean, they get along very well together. But I'm also big on her 18 year old Girlfriend that comes in double casks. I like to put a few ice cubes in her. She's hot headed. I like watering her down a bit.

Seems you like fine things in life. I see why you like Bombardier. You probably got yourself a Global to make sure you don't disturb your 18 year old girlfriend while flying...nothing like a smooth ride.
