HOUSE 1 BUYING CONTINUES

Don't know whether it is long or short covering today, but again to my thinking, it doesn't matter.  In either case, it displays sentiment that the stock will be moving higher.

House buying you say! They will dump their shares as soon as the stock rises at an acceptable range, been going for years now, and markets are not finished dropping, so how will stocks go up!

IMO the greater issue at the institutional level is that it doesn't take much for one buyer to alert others of their own intentions. I'd argue that for the last decade anyway, retail has held the long end while the institutional was mostly short.  As of late the level of success and speed with this turnaround has surprised many and so, if they all want to buy in the price moves up too ...more

Acuras The houses for a ,llong time have not been pure agents or brokers anymore.    Besides making money on commisions they also make much from market maker trading for their own accounts and with illegal insider trading through signals and naked shorting.   it is the cesspool that is Canada in the markets.   I am thinking of moving my trades to a no commision  ...more

I understand the MM just want the spread......I was rather referring to institutional parties who actually trade and accumulate pools of shares, as in funds and the like. GLTA

Acuras   The market makers listed in canada can do that also. They can accumulate for their own houses and sell later on or trade amongst themselves in reality. Why couldn't they?

Club, you might want to check what financial instruments you can or cannot trade with wealthsimple. I have both of these but prefer questrade. https://www.moneysense.ca/save/investing/questrade-vs-wealthsimple-which-online-investing-service-is-right-for-you/

Lots of whining when things don't go the longs way. How is naked shorting different than buying on margin long. Bottom line is the shares will be accounted for at some point same as you have to covr your margin. Talk about always looking for something or someone to blame. Make your bets take your chances and then be sccountable for your actions, simple as that.

Not hard to believe that they would be doing some covering until their naked position at least is settled and now buying some back.   The positive move today,  may very well be short lived considering the markets. The move today,  to me was simply some short covering.   Some are saying that the markets should hit bottom after another 10% move to the downside. what shall it be ...more

Club, as you would know, naked short selling is no longer allowed, so I'm not sure why you are referencing it. https://thedeepdive.ca/naked-shorting-targeted-by-new-iiroc-notice/ Additionally, there is no way to know whether it is long buying or short covering, so suggesting that it is not hard to beleive it is short coveringamounts to nothing more than a coin toss. In reality, it could be ...more

Naked short selling is not happening  LOL ?? Really ??  The only thing you have correct is that it is not allowed officially but is quite rampant here in canada . I guess you have not bothered to read the Macmillan report of late 2019.    They don't have to borrow shares ahead of any shorting..just have a reasonable expectation to settle and literally be detected only 10 ...more
