IADA Notes Q1/23 Used Business Aviation Sales Softer Y/Y But Still Up From 2021
According to the International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA), preowned business aircraft dealers expect tighter conditions in 2023 amid slightly higher inventory levels and a return to more rational pricing and valuations. That said, market conditions are still expected to remain healthy. IADA dealers closed 239 transactions in Q1/23, down from 288 in the same period in 2022 and up from 213 in the first quarter of 2021. They ended the quarter with 197 aircraft under contract, down from 259 a year ago and 248 in Q1 of 2021. Of the first quarter transactions, 52 experienced lower prices, compared to six a year ago and 27 in the same period in 2021. Aircraft sales, flight activity, and maintenance, repair and overhaul activity have in general receded from the record highs of 2022. Despite that, the market remains in a good spot.
