HOW MUCH SPRINT PAID FOR BBD PLANTS BELFAST, MOROCOW. etc..

Good to know how much bbd sold the aerostructures activities and aftermarket services operations in Belfast, U.K.; Casablanca, Morocco; and its aerostructures maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Dallas...to sprint

so we can estimate cost of re purchasing and if there are any incentive for BBd

Spirit now owns Bombardier’s aerostructures activities and aftermarket services operations in Belfast, U.K.; Casablanca, Morocco; and its aerostructures maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Dallas, U.S. in exchange for cash consideration of $275 million, Spirit’s assumption of liabilities, including government refundable advances, pension obligations, as well as certain adjustments to the parties’ trading agreements favourable to Bombardier. The total transaction value is approximately $1.2 billion.

BIG BUCKS, HOW MUCH BBD WILL PAY TO BUY IT BACK IFBBD DECIDED TO PURCHASE A MONEY LOOSING ...AND DEAL WITH UNION, LABORE DESPUTE ,,, ALL THE HEADACH THAT CAUSED BBD TO SELL IT 4 YEARS AGO IMO, BUYING IT BACK, = BUYING PROBLEMS, WORRIES, MONEY PIT

As I was saying before. It's not easy to just take on a $1B commitment. Even with a $250M to $300M kickback to us from Sprint. The Pension, the Debt assumption and even the Irish Govt pauback loan(s) are all a burden that are worth calculating. It's always preferable to just sell it to some one who is a pure play Aerostructures company.

YES, ***** YOU ARE ABSO;UTLY RIGHT.

I still question is it worth it to buy it back.  We spent $400-500M USD for a new factory at Pearson and I will guess Belfast is the same size (?) A new factory in Wichita would appease Trump with lots of good new US jobs, likely deal with potential tariffs, plus there are 17,000 laid off workers from Boeing and maybe they are stilled in fuselage and wing manufacturing? I really don't ...more

YES, ***** YOU ARE RIGHT AS YOU SAID "Belfast is outdated, inefficient, old and is a money losing pig.  Why not have a brand new factory for a fraction of the cost?" BUT MEANWILE HOW BBD CAN keep on going while waiting for new plante to be built that may take years to be ready
Comment by Letsmakemoredol on Nov 11, 2024 10:36am
Sham, what we don't know is how long the existing supply contract with Spirit is.  If its 2-3+ years we have enough time to build a new factory while they have to keep supplying us with wings and fuselages under a contract.  The problem is no one knows how long it is.  If it was me before I sold Belfast I would have signed long term supply agreements guaranteeing supply for set ...more

I hear you Lets. But the issue is not about any of those things we are discussing. I'm just saying that, the issue for me is very simple. Why should we get distracted from the building of planes for customers, and get into Aerostructures right now??? That's the question.  This company doesn't do well when it spreads itself out too thin. The need for re-patriating Belfast doesn ...more

***** EXCELLENT ANALYSES I HOPE AS YOU SUGGESTED  Safran GITs IT THEN BBD WILL HAVE ONE LESS PROBLEM
Comment by Letsmakemoredol on Nov 11, 2024 12:17pm
859, the issue is we may not have the option because lets say worst case option Spirit folds, goes bankrupt, or whatever.  Its a hypothetical situation and if that happened (which I hope it doesn't) where do we get the wings and fuselages from?  Yes its possible we could get the wings from the company who makes the 7500 wings in the US, no idea who that is.  I have no idea what ...more
