The Trump tariffs vs Canada is not on the table, we can do the same and hurt the US economy much harder as we do during is 1st mandat  Wiki source: Canadian On May 17, 2019, the U.S. reached a deal to lift the steel and aluminum tariffs on Mexico and Canada. Lifting the tariffs were seen as helping pave the way for further ratification of the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement ...more

Regarding american buyers, there exist solutions for not paying these tariffs. Some of them have dual nationalities, allowing them to buy their business jet from their original country and register it there. Some are large companies that have branches outside the USA allowing them to buy their business jet from the countries they are doing business from. Another solution is for Bombardier to ...more

Agreed, or they incorporate a new company in the Bahamas where that company buys their new jet.  It costs around $2k USD to incorporate in the Bahamas and annual fees are around $1500 USD.  Super cheap.  BBD corporate could even offer the service as an add on LOL Anyway, tariffs are not a concern and are being blown way out of proportion

Shorts love the general uncertainty even when there are obvious solutions that you two have so knowledgably pointed out, and are being relentless in their attack lately. I can only hope Bomber is fighting back with big buybacks now.

"Anyway, tariffs are not a concern and are being blown way out of proportion" It's almost as if investors are throwing in the towel. How long will the shorts play this "Trump tariff fear"? I thought it would last for a couple of days and then intelligence would prevail but it seems like it can't be shaken. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail soon.

thanks, ***** sounds good i hope it will work out for bbd as this Trump Guy is a gangster and do crazy things like 300% taxes on c series and plan to tax some china products between 60 - 200%

If it were that easy, all imports would follow this path and no tariffs would be applicable in the world. These simple mechanisms do not work, tariff rules circumvent them. If you fly to the USA, transport people from one end of the USA to the other, it does not matter if you have a subsidiary in Timbuktu that owns the plane, you will pay tariffs. It become only a matter of evidences about what ...more

Sham where are you getting this 20% Tafiff for Canada from Trump? This 20% Tariff that Trump said is against the CHINESE GOODS, not to Canada or Mexico. In fact Mexico maybe hit by a Tariff from the US but the US can't afford to do it to Canada. What you are saying or associating with, was the CSeries ordeal, which was aimed to block the CSeries from going to the US. And that the USTC. The ...more

859, all good points.  I am not an expert on USMCA, far from it, and from what I know the US can't slap tariffs against Canada if they want to.  It is up for review in 2026, I do know that so there could be some tweeks then.  Until then, can someone explain how Trump could just slap a tariff on Canadian business jets? The C series tariff which was eventually overturned was ...more

If memory serves me well I seem to remember Trump stating that he wants to put tarrifs of 10 to 20% on all imports except  for China. They get a 100%. As for the USMCA agreement I think that it can be reviewed and revised in 2026. On top of that he hates Trudeau. As for having Americans pay more for things what makes you believe that they would bock. They will swallow any $_it that he spews ...more

Hey Fly. If Trump puts a tariff of 100% on the Chinese products? The American companies who produce those similar products will also raise the price to be similar in price to what the Chinese products (Tariff included) are selling for  in the USA. That's 20% higher for consumer goods in the US This is what happens. So we're going to see inflation galore in the US, & don't ...more

859, that is sosunding extreme with a lot of fear and anger thrown in. First off let me state I do not like Trump. However, he is a stock market president. He will not want to tank it. Much of this tariff talk is part of the art of the deal. It's tactics, pre-negotiation. Yes, tariffs are coming. Yes, inflation will return. But, nothing like what we just came out of.   Second, I don ...more

Hi Flamingo. First of all let me tell you that, I agree with the low Interest theory as been ONE culprit for getting people in the market flipping houses. But that only explains part of the equation. I also didn't want to expand on that, because I was trying to answer what was going on in the USA with "Trumps behaviour" to Flyman. But since you brought it up. Btw I agree with ...more

859, ok your points are valid and you're certainly more versed on this than me. However, do you really believe that we have a housing shortage? Right now, we have record listings so the inventory is out there. It's just that few can afford it or few are willing to bite thinking that rates still have more room to fall. But, a housing shortage sounds like a false message. Thanks, I do value ...more

To answer your question quickly. Yes we have a housing shortage right now. The Builders aren't keeping up with Immigration. When Immigrant families come here, they also sponsor other non-immigrant family members. Who could be wealthier than they are. For instance Chinese parents of Immigrants.  So the first thing they do is, buy 10 houses at a time from Builders on grand openings of new ...more

What hasn't been mentioned in the media enough is Airbnb. This model of short term rental has taken away traditional long term rental inventory driving up prices. This is a global phenomena and some cities/countries are taking action. Greece for instance is banning Airbnb rentals around Athens for 1 year. I believe Airbnb is contributing to our "housing shortage" across major ...more
