Dividend Increase

Yes, I expect an announcement of a dividend increase tomorrow on common shares

$1.00 a share seems just about right!

Comment by cajansurfer on Feb 07, 2024 3:34pm
I agree, which is about 3.14% increase.
Comment by savyinvestor333 on Feb 08, 2024 8:19am
How long can they go on paying more than they make? I like the raise but???
Comment by Eastbank on Feb 08, 2024 8:26am
That's why they're cutting 4500 jobs!
Comment by Eastbank on Feb 08, 2024 8:33am
Correction...make that 4800 jobs cut!
Comment by JayBanks on Feb 09, 2024 1:15am
So the dividend costs them 3.639B, Free Cashflow is around 3B, and they have 5.8B in available liquidity... so maths say a little over 9 years should all things stay the same... It seems like post 2024 after all the severances are paid, on lower capex for employee heads and infrastructure, FCF and the dividend cost should be pretty close to in line, not to mention interest rates fall ...more

The Canadian economy is strong.  What recession? C'mon guys, only 4,800 workers laid off. What's the big deal? ( insert sarcasm )
Comment by nedstar71 on Feb 09, 2024 11:15am
Yup, shoulda bought Telus instead
Comment by Eastbank on Feb 09, 2024 11:53am
You can stll buy Telus...at these levels it's cheap!
Comment by cajansurfer on Feb 09, 2024 1:10pm
Telus cut 6000 jobs last August and there was hardly a comment. Now Justin Trudeau has the gall to call BCE decision garbage.
Comment by meritmat on Feb 09, 2024 1:27pm
And Bell will give him the big middle finger like Loblaws did.   Note to Justin.  Keep your nose out of business you moron,
Comment by nedstar71 on Feb 09, 2024 1:32pm
Turdeau calling something garbage is like the pot calling the kettle blackface.  Maybe if he'd stop over subsidizing the CBC, real companies might stay the course.  As it is, he has made Canada a cesspool where businesses go to die.
Comment by 1condor on Feb 08, 2024 10:44am
big question today...how low will the SP go. I added a few today at 50.75. Will likely wait to add more  and hope the sellers drive it into the 40's.
Comment by JayBanks on Feb 08, 2024 12:05pm
Well that didn't go the way I expected lol... Glad I didn't add more than 50 shares I wanted or sell a Put option like I was mulling over... I thought we would see 5% increase and a mild price rise. The CAPEX reduction due to upgrading was expected as they told us that plan a while ago, the layoffs didn't surprise me either. I haven't really dug in beyond the headlines yet to ...more

Looks like support at around the 50 mark. The plunge in 2020 was an anomaly as with any other stock.  How low you say?  I'd definitely be adding here.  Bce is doing what it needs to, this is not going out of business, far from it.  And I always enjoy receiving dividends.
