An analyst on BNN today spent some time talking about how much of a deal BCE.PR.H preferred shares are from a dividend standpoint. 10% div sustainable at a cheap price. The preferreds jumped today right after. Probably some retailers jumping ship at Market to get over there.

I've only recently been digging into preferreds, so my take here may be wrong, but BCE.PR.H is a floater until the next reset in May 2026. And the yield on par of the fixed rate twin is ony 3.37%. I see no reason to buy this one if you believe the BOC will be cutting rates next year.

Perhaps....but in the meantime the preferreds pay 15c a month and didn't drop 2% today. 9.96% div. Rates have to drop 3% to even that out with the common shares. Which I'm also hanging on to.

Longholder...up to you and depends on how long your hold is in terms whether there are better preferreds. IMO since the BCE H preferreds are floating you are less likely to get some capital gains as interest rates go down compared to a fixed rate preferred. The commons have been a long term hold of mine and I picked up some more this afternoon.

Technical analysis says it will bounce at 50.75. So getting it below 50 dollars may be pushing it.

Stock slowly grinding its way down to that 50.75 support level.

Dont we all just love year end. Large swings and opportunities abound within the volatility. BCE is still slowly griding its way down to the support of 50.75. Talk of a divvy cut is BS...never happen. In fact BCE will raise its divvy through 2024.
