It's tanking because the CRTC is imposing price controls.

The CRTC price control will never work. In the short term it will benefit the small businesses that do not need to invest in infrastructure. However, as the big businesses continue to reduce their spending and workforce, who will build the infrastructure? It requires constant investment and maintenance. Will the CRTC (government) take over? Government has proven that it cannot do anything ...more

......It requires constant investment and maintenance.... You got that right. lol . In 30 years living on crescent endless emergency services calls are happening. Every time there they do a little construction like changing a small section of concrete,replacing grass etc cables are being busted. Multiple crews coming the first one pulling the cables over the trees ( like in third world countries ...more

Since Bell is the largest telecomunications company in Canada, they stand to lose the most with the CRTC decision pending "government" revue. This from today's Globe and Mail: "The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that in August, the CRTC introduced sweeping regulatory changes, allowing major incumbents to access each other's fibre networks for the first time. ...more

With government interference large telco lay off higher saleried employees and the smaller telcos hire them for 40% less, does nothing to help gdp. Canadians families ability to buy homes,pay bills and groceries but government think they are protecting them so they come up with another failed program , and on and on it goes.
