as interest rates drop these telecom companies will do amazing.
Comment by Ocalaman on Oct 16, 2024 6:52pm
Interest rates drops do stimulate dividend stocks but the counter pressure for bce is that regulators are  making them share the infrastructure that bce spent billions in borrowed money to build pushing thier payout ratio to unsustainable  levels and with the economy sputtering increasing unemployment they cannot keep debt at this level and keep paying a 8% dividend. Something has got to ...more

One problem I see is that new and also the young Canadians will not pay a nickel more than necessary for what basic services they want. Bummer for those who have invested in premium offerings.

I saw the opposite, youth don't care the cost they want the best connection

Then you really need to go to reddit to any of theses carriers pages.  Everyone is looking to squeeze out every single last dollar in savings.  And lets face it, I don't know about you but I'm paying about half as much for my cell plan as I was 2 years ago and have 3x the data.  Most young people (40 and under) no longer have cable/satellite, the only service they need is ...more

Price for the phone is NOT what kids care about Does'nt matter as much. It;s content and CONNECTION. Bell is the best for having good streaming and Conection where ever the are.

I very much agree nedstar, the young as well as the hundreds of thousands of new immigrants do not want any more than the cheapest possible service that meets their needs. Period.  No idea how this ends, but to Bell's credit, they are trying to diversify or adapt by going for a role in the new paradigm. I got shares in BCE for the long term. Hope they can keep up the dividend.  ...more

Nah bro if you were right then the flanker brands lowest tier would have a larger following.   Fido is way smaller than Rogers, and Virgin is than Bell.... the bottom tier providers are tiny... people pay for the juice and kids are the most vocal,  if the internet goes down, slows down or hiccups it's the kids who complain...   Canada has some of the best internet in ...more

Exactly.  Also the lower tiers and competitors are not using the BCE infrastructure for free it is a fee for use system.  We'll see what the fees top out at soon. GLTY and all

Yeah right they want the best when their parents pay for it . Went through it when they were in the school. Still they didn't get the best $$ but "the best reliable " Since I came to Canada 1989 I am running all telecommunications services lean and mean. Now at 61 even leaner.
