Patent decision pending

As noted , the challenge needs to be ruled on with the patent office before any lawsuit will proceed . This reminds me of the guy who built the first car in the US . Seldon (I believe his name was) , received a patent for "the car" and sued every car company for royalties until Ford challenged it and won .

I put this in that catagory but time will tell but in plain english , you cannot patent a vague idea . The specific's will render this uninforcable .

Sorry for spaming the board Topdown - just sharing things as I find them.  How can I tell the patent is still pending? It seems like it has been issued and that is why we are being sued now?
Comment by topdown99 on Jan 25, 2021 12:11pm
The fact that it is being challenged and the patent office received , accepted and is investigating . Just because a patent gets issued , it is never cast in stone if it can be proven "to over reach" . Like Seldon's car patent , you can not patent a "generalized" idea . Steelhead neither invented or was first to market with electrified cooling or floating platforms . This ...more

I see I see...okay I get what you're saying.

And one final point Plutus , if there was any legitimacy to this story , BIR would be dropping like a stone . It certainly wouldn't be up and in the green .  BIR has been held back by forces looking to shake out weak hands and reactionary traders . This release smacks of manipulation and I would suggest you don't fall into the trap .

Top. You may be right. Given that the patent has been granted it means that BIR and VII will have to fight it out. Boy it seems that it must have been a messy divorce between these guys. Bottom line WTF are these producers doing wasting there time on LNG. They will need another pipeline and cuts will be over the moon although the modules will cut the cuts. That said they also need a market. That ...more

Well it seems BIR is still holding up , VII is getting killed . Provided BIR can hold $2/sh it should signal future support in this market of panic and virtue signaling
Comment by barneyj44 on Jan 26, 2021 12:49pm
Bir is down 4% and Seven Gen down just under 3% , I wouldn't say there getting killed. We got enough problems in this NG industry, we sure don't need added expense with lawsuits...
Comment by topdown99 on Jan 26, 2021 12:58pm
Barney , BIR has risen in the past few days while VII has dropped 5% every day this week . I was speaking in a bit bigger time frame than just today .
Comment by topdown99 on Jan 26, 2021 1:00pm
Correction , VII has dropped 5% each day for a week . Didn't proof read before posting
Comment by barneyj44 on Jan 26, 2021 3:02pm
Yeah I see your point, either way we have enough hurdles to jump we sure don't need frivolous (I hope) lawsuits to contend with.
Comment by topdown99 on Jan 26, 2021 3:19pm
It all good Barney , BIR is bulletproof . Holding up like a champ
Comment by PlutusofCrete on Jan 26, 2021 3:36pm
Isn't it sad that CIPO received a lot of objections to Steelhead's patent application and they were still granted one? I think I saw 5 or 6 companies object.
Comment by topdown99 on Jan 26, 2021 4:07pm
They only got a patent because its an Indian company . Can you imagine the laughter if a bunch of white guys , wanting to export LNG on Vancouver Island , asked for a patent on anything ???   It never would have happened , Steelhead has set themselves up to be shunned by the industry with this ill timed court action . Do you really see them getting a permit for an under sea pipeline to ...more

What are the chances they win in court because they are a First Nations company?  Jeff Tonken talked about all these confidentiality agreements around Rockies LNG. Consultng with First Nations etc....honestly....I wish we didn't get wrapped up in this.  We probably didn't hear much on the Rockies LNG front because of this patent application and pending lawsuit.

I believe the stench here is deeper than what is at the surface. reminds me of other similar but  non native dealings.
Comment by topdown99 on Jan 26, 2021 5:28pm
It could be a year before a trial would ever begin , who knows where sentiment will be by then . If Steelhead wants to waste what little money they have left , let them . It sure won't gain them any more clients or investors and in the mean time both BIR and VII will keep building cash and moving forward .
Comment by topdown99 on Jan 28, 2021 4:28pm
Well barney , I'm not going to gloat but I will say BIR has looked poised to make a break and the price action these past several days should give all holders a good feeling and NO INSOMNIA , lol .  Cheers to all longs

Yes a nice day today for sure, hope we can back it up tomorrow. Have to admit I sold just a touch today ( was overweight)  to add to my Whitecp as I can use the dividend increase that's coming with the Torc merger.
Comment by topdown99 on Jan 28, 2021 5:32pm
Nice call barney , its hard to argue with any producer with a net negative footprint (whether the government wants to admit it or not)

@retiredengexec,   Grey hydrogen is a no go for the same reason as normal cost efficient LNG project using your own natural gas to power liquefaction process. That's the Paris accord and already legislated emissions neutral targets. Ottawa and BC won't even allow Blue hydrogen, BC can make Green hydrogen using hydro electricity and water electrolysis. Japan is shifting towards ...more

I have no doubt that Ottawa and many others are preparing a funeral service for the industry through assisted murder. The real question is at what point , do these bozos confess to their ridiculous charade? In the mean time we will have to buckle our seat belts !!
