The heat pumps I have are not efficient in heating or cooling.  Can't touch a nat gas furnace for heating. Heat pumps would almost be useless in winters of 20 or 30 below.

Yes, you are right I had an heat pump for heating and cooling, just not efficient, and during the winter=0, nothing because too much cold weather, just wasting your money with the heat pump, samething with my swiming pool, heat pump slow and slow,  taking almost one month to get around 78-80 degrees, now I am with propane heater and in 20 hours, 52 degrees to 82 degrees. FYI:  the guy next door had an electric furance   ;>(  .switched to a heat pump some years back with electric back up  then finally got NG installed & still Happy both cost  & service.  ..Took  that family a long Time to recover the prior added expenses.
