Scotia has their own brokerage (as far as I know).  It's called iTrade.  It was formerly E-Trade which they acquired in 2008. BTW, as expected the share price was adjusted down $0.90 to reflect the ex-dividend date this morning. Everyone should understand that the settlement date has nothing to do with when you get the dividend.  If you owned the stock prior to the market ...more

I need to correct that.  It's not that the settlement date has nothing to do with when you get the dividend - that's not really true.  It's that companies set the "record date" to be aligned with the ex-dividend date such that if you traded to own the stock as of the opening of the ex-dividend date then you will get the dividend, because the trade will have been ...more
