Where is the volume?
Checking trading volume levels is an important factor in determining interest in a specific stock.
When looking at BPO preferred shares, take a second look to incorporate trading on exchanges other than the TSX.
For the last several weeks I noticed that trading on other exchanges often exceeds TSX trading. I do not know why but it appears that many brokers and bank trading desks seem to prefer trading on exchanges other than TSX for some reason (fees maybe?).
So, if trading volume is important to you, take a second look!
For example, trading today on BPO.PR,P was only 7,231 but 18,441 consolidated. BPO.PR.T was 14.600 on TSX but 34,800 consolidated.
Considering the wide spread between bid and ask on BPO preferred shares lately, one may want to check prices available outside the TSX.

Most of the trading in alternate makets is taded by computer algorythems wooshing paper around for spreads. The real volume from real investors is actually very small.
