Not a big deal

I consoled myself by adding some shares just now at 4.20.  As others have pointed out, this is what we expect from BTB.
- Great return and safe dividend.
- However, share price appreciation is capped by periodic share issues.

At least this time, they are raising at a decent price that is higher than where we were a week ago.  And the share price this morning allows existing shareholders to participate at the same price. 

There are other stocks that I hold expecting share price appreciation, but BTB is only for the dividend, which remains very safe.  I guess it comes down to management egos - they dream of running a bigger company, rather than dreaming of increasing returns to existing shareholders.

PS, I wish to clarify my previous post.  I still expect BTB's share price to appreciate slowly, as I consider it undervalued.  That's one of the reason I am comfortable to have money parked there and paying dividends with very limited downside.  But I don't have any particular short-term aspirations for share price increase.

Keep in mind that the safe dividend was reduced about 30% two years ago. So based on that it should be much safer now going forward. But that reduction was an eye opener as to the strength of the reit and it's cash flows during an unprecedented crisis. The share price has not recovered from that, but if you have been adding along the way at lower prices as I have you've done fine. Will we ...more
