Seems to have been upset with management for a year, they have been paying down debt, instead of doing buybacks or paying a dividend. To me, concentrating on getting the books in order is more important than raising the share price.

Right Jimitwist ! As a senior portfolio manager, he must diversify is portfolio, Capital gains are not enough to reassure his investors, with all happen in the last 5 years in the energy sector. He said, he's looking for advantageous dividends of up to 10% per year ! It's huge ! Not sure if small and midcap energy stocks are interested at the moment to offer this yield ! Only ...more

Red you are exactly right. Important to know 1. For Eric and his fund dividends are VERY important vs Buybacks WHY? It is tough to time a "point in time" buyback when he flips so often so this doesn't give HIM value versus a dividend (unless the company is doing both) He just wants the dividend and flipping the ratios.  Which to be honest is good with ALL Canadian Oil and ...more

He was on, maybe a year year and a half ago, he said he met with management and suggested buybacks and dividends, he seemed more upset that they didn't listen to him than anything

Baytex Management has it right! 1. Debt 2. Share buyback 3. Dividends I agree 100% with Management! On a side note it's not often a fund managers admits on TV "I sold and it was a HORRIBLE sale"....the dangers of flipping.... Now he needs hope/wait for a pullback....that is even more dangerous for shorts! Another reason I would NOT want to be short...a drop could trigger Eric ...more
