BTE shareholder return plan "trailed" other cos

In  Market Call today, Eric kept on saying he was keen on cos  with share buyback of at least 10% and basic dividend of min 5% ...  When Tourmaline was mentioned, Eric immediately said "this is exactly what cos should do to tell ppl in their face how much free cash flow they have  and they have to do it NOW"...  There was some discussion on there are lots of choice on investing in which. I suspect BTE got dropped out of Eric's portfolio bc BTE shareholder return plan trailed others by 6 months... BTE shareholder buyback  ( H1 of 2022) followed by dividend (probably Q2 of 2022)...when compared to Toumaline doing it NOW...and I suspected some others will be doing so within these few months.

Yes he promotes a company and moves on.  For instance Eric said TOU "doing exactly what I had hoped entire sector will be doing" However Eric also said "everything you want" ....but he also says he can't get to his goals holding it LOL and doesn't own it He doesn't because he needs to constantly move and flip....he moves promotes...people follow and he sells ...more

It's pretty obvious that companies with debt will trail the companies with less debt but BTE has so much torque to $70 oil with their large bpd production that they are one of the few companies that can pay down their debt quickly.  This will allow them to start buying back shares and instituting a dividend in 2022.  I didn't think this was Eric's best performance on BNN ...more

Exactly. The Long Longs here know damn well as long as WTI stays above $70, the torque BTE will have will sling shot it.to $5 and beyond within a year. If there's some black Swan event affecting wti price or manipulation, it may be a volatile roller coaster beyond $6 but all arrows point to shortage at the moment! HOLD and buy on weakness....

There's not much I can add after reading relax's post , you seem to have nailed my viewpoint as well . I like Nuttall's appearances on MC but I do believe sometimes he overthinks things and outsmarts himself . Eric is always looking for greener pastures but sometimes you are standing in the greenest pasture and don't realize it .  BTE is being very smart with an abundant FCF ...more

Thanks Top!  We are both definitely seeing things the same for BTE.  My point on Suncor was not about the stock being a good value play because I do believe you can't really lose much at this level. My point was that within 2 months he went from a don't buy (not hold or neutral) at around $24 to a buy at $25 this week?  I've been burned by him and just want everyone to ...more
