Hi Comp, first I think even $70+ oil will move BTE significantly in the coming years we don't even need $80. With the assumption of oil supply holding tight and demand growing.....my targets based on multiple factors (debt, buyback, dividends, Clearwater) this is what I have in my head as I would like to see..as I said I would like to see the management plan executed through at least June 2023 ...more

I need some advice on how your folks usually handle the taxable capital gain when SPs rise significantly in multibagger over several years  ...Note that my BTE is in a trading account (ie not RRSP nor TFSA) ...Say using Wolf's target of 15$ for Q4 2023 (cf today closing at 3.76$), there will be a huge capital gain for the sale in  2023...  So is it you folks spread your capital ...more

Not much you can do to not pay capital gains but you can buy some shares or put some money in an RRSP with that money and that deduction will help offset your capital gains cost!

Had dinner with another oil guy tonight and he is extremely bullish on oil stocks but doesn't believe on my take that oil stocks will be re-rated by the oil hating analysts.  So I was a bit disappointed to say the least but I was happy to hear that he basically said buy everything.  Anyhow, I beg to differ and think oil stocks will be re-rated but I did at least get an agreement from ...more

And what tickers would you be buying if you had some free cash? Everything is looking pretty oversold at the moment ....all CDN oil names are pretty much at their 52 week high...

I will be having huge capital gains in my small business professional corp when i sell baytex and may loose small business deduction . Possibly going to take a sabbatical from work for a year and book capital gains .
