Outlook and opinions for Baytex

Is it a buy at these prices
Comment by red2000 on Dec 27, 2021 5:18pm
For me, right now, it's a STRONG BUY !!! Crude close at  75,93$ USD == 97,12$ CDN  UP 2.9%. Nat gas close at 4,05$ USD ==   5,18$ CDN UP  8.6%. Winter is taking place !!! Demand is climbing for gasoline and jet fuel. (OIL) Demand for heating is climbing and production of electricity (Nat gas) 52 Week high of Baytex was nov. 4th 2021 at 4,39$.  WTI price at that ...more

So $3.66 was the last price at the same oil price as the 52 week high.  As Wolf likes to say that's a rerate but not for the better!  We have lost almost 70 cents in the share price at the same price of oil.  Also, quite often oil goes up $2 one day and than goes down the next.  If oil opens down a dollar tomorrow it will be a wash come Wednesday.  With record cases ...more

USA will have a sharp spike is cases , hopefully they will peak sometime in January .. Doubtful the curve will by lowered for longer .......After the case load peaks it should go down reasonably soon thereafter .... There will not be lockdowns but people will pull back some ..Economies will be doing well all over.. Price of oil will have a guranteed floor of $65 by OPEC ....Upside has a chance of ...more

The virus keeps mutating, so how do you know that version pi, rho, sigma....(continuing along the Greek alphabet) will not be much more deadly than omicron? Given the brief testing performed on the vaccines, suppose billions of people contract a rare form of cancer. I'm not suggesting that these events will occur, but I am saying that predicting the future is risky. The big banks predicted ...more

How do you know you won't get hit by a meteorite leaving your house today? What is the point of your post? Are you letting us know that their is a risk we don't see $100? Then don't buy.  You can join Unlucky and Deepblue and watch the sp.

And why all this talk of $100 oil? We only need $65 to print piles of cash.

masfortuna, I own BTE shares; the question is, should I sell them or buy more. I scan these bullboards, weeding out the unsubstantiated hopes and dreams, looking for facts that I may have overlooked in company and research reports. Thanks for the tip, but believe me, I am already closely watching the sp.

What unsubstantiated "hopes and dreams" are you reffering to? Based on what the API report is showing, oil is in demand.  This at a time when travel is being severely restricted and the economy is functioning at less than 100%. I base my decisions on the info I have at hand.  Anything else is beyond my control.  For that reason, I own shares in Bte and furthermore, I ...more

masfortuna, I don't want to belabour the point, but: 1. seemingly most of the BTE bullboard activists have never seen the stock market drop, so rapid rise is the 'norm'. 2. WTI may rise or fall, but it is not the only factor to consider. For instance, the DOW is at a maximum. What if it falls by 20% but WTI stays high? The management of BTE will probably cancel plans for a dividend as ...more

Bull, this is why people need to be well diversified and with higher risk stocks should only invest what they can afford to lose. Sure lots can happen. That's why I like to focus on data as that helps.  That said I am also an optimist...I could sit here every day saying the sky "could" fall tomorrow...but I don't think that would be good for mental health.  If my big ...more
