"Yes a big thanks to Putin for giving it a push too"  I wonder if half, or at least a quarter of this Ukraine thing is Putin thinking, "if I create chaos, oil goes up, and Russia makes billions".

Instead, for risnig price oil you should thanks the crazy brains of the US State Dept and their puppet in the White house for all this delirium about a "imminent Russian invasion"... they are talking about  since years... The USA, or NATO, it is the same, propaganda is disgusting when you follow tightly what it is happennig in the eastern Europe region since 2014, since the US ...more

I disagree.  I won't even bother to give you a response.  The only thing I will say is that the Crimea was ALREADY annexed by Russia and the Eastern third of the Ukraine is ALREAY occupied. So no...I disagree.

You should know that Eastern Ukraine, is "occupied" by ... a russian population... whom was attacked by the Kiev gov from the US sponsored coup of feb 2014. Crimean population asked to Russia to "annex" them ... and they are happy now... Donbass want an autonomy that Kiev does'nt want to give them (Kiev does not respect the Minsk agreements) and this is the cause of a war ...more

Wrong. The principality of Kiev was established 1000 years ago. Under Stalin, the Ukrainians were considered second class citizens. Engineered assimilation by the Russian controlled USSR in the Crimea that was depopulated of large segments of the ethnic groups that had sided with Germany or Bandera for a Ukrainian Free State and replaced by Russian "immigrants". The Crimea and the ...more

The "rus" of Kiev was the first... russian State...Ukraina means something like "periphery".... There has been several Russian populations, in the West (white Russians) in the est (Russians) and in the south, at the ...periphery.... As there is Texans and New-yorkers... Same people, little cultural differences... It is the Soviet Union, for political reasons, created Ukraine... ...more

The Ukraine was one of the forces in the 1919-1922 civil war. As a culture they existed before the russian revolution and fought not to become part of the USSR. Stalin got back at them by causing the great famine in the 1930's. They are very similar to the Russion but with some differences. Sort of like Denmark, Norway and Sweden, similar languages that each can understand, but not the same ...more

The disparate tribes of Europe have been at war with each other for millennia. Same thing happened in north and South America amongst various indigenous peoples before Europeans showed up . And everywhere else on our planet. It's the nature of our species. And chimpanzees, apparently. Modern technology and the population explosion just makes it seem more horrific. NATO and the United Nations ...more

Actually again NO. The principality of Kiev existed 500 years befor the Golden Horde. Our friend is just confusing Russians with the Rus who were "Scandinavians" that navigated and settled all along the Volga. So basically SWEDES.

During the civil War (1918-1921) several poliical forces were acting on the territory of "Ukraine" and an a ukranian  national identity was, it is true, living: it was to keep political distance to the Czar's power... One of the most interesting "ukrainian" movement, even  in the European historiy, was the one lead by Nestor Makhno, which really desserve to be ...more

What about that great Ukrainian "Taras Bulba" ? You know the ukrainian that fought to liberate the Ukraine from Tzarist control 500 (!!!!!) years ago? Ok mate as I said read some books before you post.  FYI I am not from eastern europe so it's really not my fight but I can see what is happening...
Comment by masfortuna on Feb 02, 2022 7:38pm
Hey mate, you are confusing the "Rus" with present day Russians. The Rus were Swedes and Norwegians so by your own arguement Russia and the Ukraine belong to Sweden...I rest my case. mas
