Noticed a real good news release from OBE this morning....reserve increase ... As in huge reserve increase....

Could we be getting close to the same now on BTE???  food for thought...

RED ...i'm assuming you have the 2020 reduction in your spreadsheet??  what would a reversal of that writedown be?

Good morning Gamble, while MANY people forget about the impact of COVID on reserves here is a snipet of the last report for Y/E 2020. You will notice the reduction in "economic" barrels. Of course at 70+ oil these are now all economic....so we wait for the new reports Something to think about as we wait for the 2021 YE reports. Hi 2021gamble ! I wonder if Baytex will be able to confirm probable and proven reserves before end of Q2 for Clearwater and before end of year for Seal sector !!! As you know more reserves confirm increase assets value in the balance sheet !! If WTI price stay over 80$, impairment adjustment have to be done, like they done in Q2 2021 for a 1B$ adjustment to reflect the right value at that time. ...more

If they release reserve data and make reverse impairment adjustments it looks good for reports but it wouldn't count as profits. It's just numbers at that point under assets. Might give the stock a small boost but investors look at cash flow and debt really now instead of assets for the energy sector since they can easily be written off if things go downhill.

Meaningful cash flow generation Baytex is close to hitting its 52-week high of $5.27 following a spectacular run in the last 12 months.
