Transportation cost from Venezuela to U.S. would be exponentially higher then turning the tap on next door.

Venezuela is a non-starter. Their is nothing left of their industry. They cannot bring production back online.  We're talking in decades and billions of dollars to get their fields back to operation.

And Venuzuelan oil is basically High Sulphur Sludge that needs to be diluted to load on a tanker. Further, there is only one viable refinery in the US that can process it.

These are all just eye washes. Us inventories fell more than 1M barrels than estimated. That is close to 2M drop. They knew the oil price will go up again and so screwed up a bit with different news in multiple channels. Venezuela oil is one of that. Is there oil in a lake to just pump out of Venezuela when US want it? Ha h ha.... all joke. They succeed to some extent today to pull down the oil
