On TV show last week at Radio Canada,   the  video has reported  a lot of people were disapointed with their EV because  in  the  winter season the battery lost about 50% of their capacity and this is not include the heater system problem, the time charge ect,  so actualy in Canada  the EV are not so good and their  autonomy  is the big ...more

That's it in a nutshell dandu1924 , in my profession we use monitors and meters powered by 9V batteries and at -30C they last about 5 minutes before the screens go blank . Cold temperatures are a battery's worst nightmare and you have to ask , how many people will be stranded and possibly die because their vehicle ran out of power unexpectedly on an average winter day in Canada .  I& ...more

There will be a technology by 2030 that will self charge the battery and keep ot heated....no need for stops just sayinggg

I think Nothingmatters is talking about a secondary system to heat the primary battery which will only add to the weight in an attempt to maintain vehicle range in winter weather . You could however add an option for a wind turbine on the roof of the vehicle to charge the secondary system but then you are transittioning from logical thinking into aspirational dreaming .
