BSW Clearly you're diversified w/ divi's

But how is the mix of your portfolio doing with everything having sold off? Just currious. Overall down or flat?

Hi Snow, what time frame? Precovid say Dec 31, 2019 I was 80% Dividends 20% Energy During covid I used dividends to average down my energy My 80% is all over GWO, MFC, ENB, PPL, BMO, TD, CM (boring stuff don't judge LOL) but decent dividends. From precovid 12/31/19 I am up on average I would say 15-20% on this group exlcuding the dividends just equity. This group was all I really ...more

Another opportunity too good to pass up !!!! Wolf , so your 20% has now incresed to 55.8% ....... sounds like you were swimming in the ocean , walked up the beach and right into a stripper bar

Td, very funny.I can visualize the panic in those millenial eyes on the beach watching this old guy inching outt of the ocean with his walker in the sand...but appreciate the humour. That said to be honest having been in the industry I know first hand the long-term impact of Capex decline. This is not rockst science....it was only a matter of time. My diversification was and remains strong so 20 ...more

Wolf , my friend , I love to laugh which has sustained me through a lot of very tough days and times . You're right , this is not rocket science , its the ability to see through the smoke screen and the BS that has been heaped on the North America's middle class . You mentioned the long term impact of Capex decline , I have been at the pointed end of that spear regarding Capex decline . I ...more

sounds a lot like my portfolio, other than I was a little later to the energy party so my gains aren't quite as dramatic - but like you I've got lots of boring dividend producing equities - CM, RY, ENB, EMA, PPL, BCE, T (Canadian- not the AT&T us dog) FTS, TD, ABBV, NTR (a little more exciting with 3x growth in the last year!).  Energy has kept my overall portfolio growing this ...more

GM, good diversification bucket. I did have BCE for years but you will enjoy this I switched these funds a few years back to GWO and MFC as I felt no one screws you more than insurance companies so if you can't beat them buy them LOL. I agree don't care about the up and downs on my core dividends holdings...just take the money and flow it to energy. Energy is the fun stuff...I will admit ...more

Made 3 million off OVV. Missed it in 2014. Didn't make the same mistake twice in 2020. I'm all in Baytex. Only now it's TFSA. Weed stocks aloud me lots of room due to withdraws. Hold tight. Men, focus n your mission and purpose. Pay no attention to this stock with oil where it is. This is better than real estate.

I have a handful of dividend paying large caps that I bought near the bottom in 2020. Here's the thing. You asked how that type of portfolio is doing and the answer is it doesn't matter. I bought income. And with dividend increases the income has risen. The only thing that matters is the sustainability of the dividend. My kids can split the portfolio when I die. Up, down, sideways.
