I have a question for you.  How is it that the API reports and the EIA reports have become so drasticly different?  over that last month or so?

Hi Ogre, the API is optional reporting whereas the EIA is mandatory. That said the EIA weekly data does have modeling estimates which is why you have seen them downgrade data the last few months during the monthly updates It is my understanding most pros ignore the API and focus on EIA (not just stock levels but production, import/exports, utilization etc.). The lack of SPR release data would explain the 7million barrel difference in crude.  Not the difference in consumibles.   The two have always been a touch off but it has gotten drastic over the last two months. Thanks for your input Mr wolf
