Eventually energy stocks will diverge from the insane day-to-day WTI volatility once a floor for the oil price is found. With stocks discounting $50ishWTI and generating record FCF, does it really matter if oil bobs around the $100 mark, or even heads a bit lower short-term???

I think the market reacted by saying ''enough volatility otherwise mutual and institutional funds will not be part of it. The energy sector will need more financing to increase the boe/d.

Brokers, analysts, bank trusts, institutionals cannot constantly use undervalued financial ratios for oil stocks.  Especially when most of them are cleaning their balance sheet and will be without long-term debt before end of 2023 !

So the market done a reset, to comeback with more realistic financial ratios to convince new investors to be part of the ballgame.

So which energy stocks are well position to deliver good and consistant results for a couple of years !!!???

The one with :

Growing boe/d.
keep reduce debt and working to reduce interest rate during the process.
Better margin.
Good assets.
Enough locations undrilled to replace and increase boe/d.
Enough FCF to make strategic acquisition without financing, if it's necessary.
Paid regular monthly dividend like it was before.

I have a couple of them in my portfolio !!! Do you ?

Enough playing daytrading with the WTI !!!

The energy sector is the most important in the world for the economy to function properly.

So far today from Josh Young, you see, the market now understand and accept the real value of energy stocks :

Key Words:  "once a floor for the oil price is found" What is that number, and when will that number be established?

Could be when Joe flys home empty handed , better odds when covid is thought to be done with China

No kidding, China Covid timing doesnt help Bidens case. Saudi will just show Joe the price has gone from $120 to $95....the market is balanced right (except Joe is draining 7m per week). Plus with the potential holiday delay in exported oil for this date range EIA reporting could show lower net draw than what we will see next week. Overall probably the worst timing for a Biden visit.

Hedge funds unloaded going into this trip the most since 2020 and sunk any chance he had ;) TA wants to turn up as he flys home, we shall see.

What I find interesting is speculative net length in CME WTI futures in the week to 5th July fell to the lowest since Feb 2019. Yes, that's below even April 2020, when panic over Covid drove WTI prices into negative territory! Lowest spec length since...yet here we are at $95....very interesting.

Saudi Arabia is in a tough situation, stuked between USA and Russia. They have some commitments with Russia and don't want to break their relationship with USA, let's see how they handle this.

See how the week unfolds. AF1 in the air. The "big guy" lol in Israel tomorrow. MBS has a few more days before AF1 lands Friday for the weekend. It will be interesting!

Lina, no one really knows up or down. Anyone who says they do I wouldn't listen too Here is what we have discovered so far. Gas priced at $180-190 does create demand destruction (WTI + 321 Crack). This is where we were with $120 WTI + $65 123 Crack Now historically if we get to a $20 321 Crack that suggests $150-160 WTI is an upper limit. For the downside it would be what limits Capex ...more
