Serious question

When should we expect BTE to make an announcement on a dividend?   Q3?  Q4? 2023?

To me this is the real catalyst for this stock.

I thought they indicated 500m debt.
Comment by TheWokeLemming on Jul 19, 2022 12:48pm
Right.   So when should we expect that to be reached, realistically?  The hedging makes me wonder how fast this can be achieved.
Comment by mckayk3 on Jul 19, 2022 12:53pm
They state next year but I really think its more likely this year since they aren't factoring into $100+ WTI and Clearwaters amazing performance.
Comment by Maxmoe on Jul 19, 2022 2:24pm
Umm. What if the hedges were at $120?
Comment by Maxmoe on Jul 19, 2022 2:33pm
8 days and counting for quarterly. Numbers and update on Clearwater, debt, stock buyback, debt paydown, and for frick sake, maybe a mention of a dividend. Of which I could care less compared to all the other goodies. Who TF cares about a F'n dividend. It has diddly squat impact on any oil producer return. Payoff debt and tell banks to GFY, buyback stock and tell shorts to GFY, drill and tell ...more

Speaking of WTF. I'm in town from the cabin for free wifi at Tim's. What's with these goofy donuts? Just make the frickin fritter bigger.

Max, I 100% agree with all of that assuming that the SP goes to a fair valuation. If it does not go up in tandem with all of those great things give me a big divy because somewhere along the line we all need to be paid!
Comment by Maxmoe on Jul 19, 2022 2:51pm
I could care less. Use the cash to buy back more stock because Im too stupid and impetuous to take the dividend and buy more stock myself. Plus I HATE paying tax. I even hate taxes on dividends. Or especially so, because dividends are paid out of after tax income from the corp. so its double tax. Double hate it. Pay down debt should still be #1. Its earnings accretive, its accretive to ...more

If you MUST get paid, buy BMO stock. Or a GIC.

Now back to the cabin. How much wood , could a fat old guy cut, if a fat old guy, could cut, wood.
Comment by dllscwbysfn on Jul 19, 2022 2:59pm
Hey Max, So you would be happy then if a year from now there was no dividend and the sp was the same as it is today. Whats you smokin at that cabin?
Comment by Maxmoe on Jul 19, 2022 8:13pm
Heart attack and aneurysm repairs = no smoking of anything for me. If the stock is unchanged a year from now, no I won't be happy. And a 5% or even 10% dividend won't make me any happier. This stock moves that much in a day. Or an hour. The premiums on near the money calls are that much. I owned it a year ago, it closed at $1.93. So, no, a dividend would not matter. I owned it 2 years ago, ...more

Relax man or you might have the big one, lol. i guess I should have been more clear when I say a dividend if the sp does not move up to a reasonable level. I want like a buck/share type thing, something meaningful but ONLY if the sp doesnt move up. Stay healthy
Comment by JohnnyDoe on Jul 20, 2022 5:36am
ya, I'm looking forward to a buck a share also and I expect the stock to be trading around 20 when I'm getting it
Comment by dllscwbysfn on Jul 20, 2022 7:54am
And if it plays out like that I will be a very happy camper, maybe I will get a cabin like Max!!

I thought their plan was to start a dividend when debt reached 800 million. IF wti stays in this range I would think they hit that target by December. It will be clearer after earnings next week as to where debt is and perhaps they even talk about a dividend!
Comment by bogi on Jul 19, 2022 1:46pm
If I am not mistaken that is planned for 2023  not in 2022  but things can change of course - for the better we all hope !
Comment by JohnnyDoe on Jul 19, 2022 6:12pm
To my knowledge Baytex hasn't explicitly come out with a dividend reinstatement plan. They've talked about debt target levels and the opportunity to increase shareholder returns. Target levels discussed have been 800m and 500m. At current pricing my expectations are they hit 800 this year. I'd be ok to hold off on a divvy if that cash was used for buybacks for about another year beyond ...more

Is this still going to $20? Lmao. You bagholders haven't seen all the sp downgrades in the sector. This is always the first sign the big Boyzs are starting to dump.
Comment by GotNoPension on Jul 19, 2022 11:39pm
obviously shaking in your boots Shorty!! May take a few years to get to $20 but back to $9 by this fall for sure. The Big Boys are buying back.
