Tribal politics are killing North America
The tribalism in North American politics are killing us faster than the fed's interest rate squeeze . Does anyone really believe that an additional 10M barrels from the SPR will satisfy supply shortcomings as we head into winter ?
Its seems the left would rather stop the economy dead in its tracks before allowing a new pipeline or expanded refinery capacity . Even though the first rule in supply/demand economics is over supply will lower prices , killing demand is NOT the only solution . There was a time when politicians understood their priority was advancing the country's economy and future prospects , not just getting re-elected .
Can you imagine trying to build the St Lawrence Seaway today ? The loss of shipping and commerce would be hard to quantify . Or the Hoover Dam or the Grand Coulee Dam ? Without the electricity generated from those dams , Aluminium and aircraft production on the west coast would have been nonexistant which probably would have cost the victory in WW2 .
Energy security is not a bargaining chip that any government should be threatening their OWN people with , that is as self centered and selfish as it gets . A compliant media that blindly tells only one side of the story is the crowning glory , a free press is supposed to be the check and balance of politics , not a partner in deception . Everyone has turned into big babies that pout and refuse to co-operate when compromise is required , thats not politics , its kindergarden .
Blindly waging war on domestic energy is as foolish as it gets , a point that will be driven home this winter (like a spike through your hand) . In Canada alone there are over 1 million open jobs and even more in the US , employment is at all time highs which ensures continued demand for months to come . Drilling has plateaued simply because of the lack of infrastructure to handle increased volumes and why support a system looking to put you out of business ?
I have never seen adults acting so stupid as what we see in Wash/Ottawa since my bar going days , at 2:15 in the parking lot guys were in fist fights over a woman who left the bar an hour before . Bruises , broken teeth and blood shed over phantom snatch that was never available in the first place . The parody is chillingly familiar .
Which brings us back to today and the next 6 months of paying the piper for abundant energy that just can't be accessed . This is what so many voted for and now you've got it , political correctness over a thriving economy , shortages as opposed to abundance and nightmares rather than sweet dreams .
As much as the "narrative" says winter is cancelled , IT ISN'T !!!! Sadly enough this point will become much clearer at -20 but by then it will be too late for those sheep who voted for leaders that are focused on throwing them off the island . Woke politics are cutting everyone's throat and both left and right voters will pay dearly for what we have allowed to metastasize in the halls of power .

And the sad thing is they still will not own up to it. It's putins fault, it's the oil companies fault, it's anybody's fault, never me. Media paid to protect, voters to dumb and lazy to demand better. Sad, wonder which country I will finish my life in as this one is going down the toilet if we continue...

Funny you say that Octo. I just retired a couple of months ago in my early fifties. Didn't make sense to me to keep working 10 hour days and give up 40%+ on income tax and then another 13% for the gst and then a few extra taxes for good measure only to watch them give my money away. So I have a similar plan except I am looking at St. Martin.

The side i am looking at is actually Dutch. And English is spoken throughout. Plus it's a tax free haven and because the locals are middle class, very little crime. Take a gander...
