long term hold now?
Comment by riski on Dec 09, 2022 2:23pm
That's a great price. You will do well if you can manage to hold on for a few months. I would stay away from ATH though. It's not a shareholder-friendly management. It's all executives with ultra high pay and ridiculous yearly share gifts that some of them sell as fast as they can. If you like oilsands, a better bet is MEG or CVE. MEG for more torque.

Lol , I heard the same story on ARX bb . ARX hit $20 on Monday and the poster had sold at $20 but bought back that day at $19 , it closed today at $17.80 . The media preaches doom and gloom , demand is being crushed , time will tell especially when they try to refine those paper barrels . I think NA is being sold a truckload of BS but ignorance is bliss .

This is the narrative spun by Western nations. Oil was high because of the evil Russia bogeyman. However, every barrel of oil that Russia would have sold without war got sold during the war just the same.  This narrative ignores that there is a structural problem with supply that will send oil much higher than $70/barrel. Much, much higher. The opportunity is before you - a second chance ...more

You keep insisting Riski that traders are missing "it again".  Is this a joke? Most of us sold our massive positions from over the years at $9 and/or $8.  Then we've been bouncing between $5's and $7's.  It would seem only you MISSED IT.  Many got rich already lol.  Now the need to keep risking huge amounts isn't necessary for many. Easy money has ...more

I gotta agree with that snowballer , I long ago dropped my 1/4 million shares and left a note on my bosses desk , it said "gone fishin" . riski has 1.2 million shares which translates into $12K for each penny up or down , I'm too old for that kind of rollercoaster ride . Today alone was $0.19 X $12K = $228,000.00 down in 6.5 hours (I'd be puking)

The funny part is that I had to fight with myself to make that trade but if I want to buy more , its time to sell . Even when I pay the tax bill I am still ahead of where I would be if I held .

Exactly.  It comes down to opportunity cost, excess returns and risk budgeting. At $130 WTI BTE could not even get to $12... a target many of us have held FOR YEARS. Glad I got over myself and my percieved "fundamental narrative".

Yes I too figured $12/sh was a matter of time but I took my que from last years June trading pattern , after gaining $2 in 5 days I forced myself to take profits . It pushed $9 for 3 days and I was on pins and needles the entire time , lol . The sector is still extremely undervalued but like 2018/19 , without buyers its a one way trade . Maybe they'll stop at 1:1 (price to cash flow)

Haha yes maybe the problem for me is envy. For the investment to be meaningful, it is necessarily large which is not conducive to jumping in and out. Philosophically I also don't like it, but lost importantly, the data shows that traders just don't win after costs and taxes are taken into account. Maybe you guys are some of the special ones that somehow buck all the economic data, but I am ...more

The envy is all mine , I would have loved to have had 1.2M shares . Point taken that you can't just hop in and out and its not my place to second guess anyone , I just don't think my nerves could take how the media and markets twist the story to fit their plan . 10 years ago real journalists would have been all over this . What we are seeing is the equivilant to government price control , ...more

Yes you are all over it. Oil has always been a highly political trade. Those who play in energy have to have the patience for political agendas that can last for months or years. The entire western world wants oil lower right now. Their economies, reputations, and power are at stake, particularly after the cap. They all know that there is a good chance of oil shooting back up because of something ...more

Nobody believes you and nobody cares.  You are mostly on everybody's ignore pile because you bring nothing to the conversation.
