The consumer is set-up to get wrecked.

That will translate into poor earnings, liquidity and solvency problems which are already showing up. Blackrock defaulting, banks failing and job losses starting to mount with higher rates does not invite an environment of growth loll. This will be epic. Play it smart.

OR... A lot of the bullishness around oil prices has to do with China. Chinese energy commodity imports were underwhelming in the first two months of 2023, but they are expected to pick up later this year with potentially record-high crude oil purchases, even though Beijing has set its lowest annual economic growth target in decades. And here in Canada where the population grew by 1 million people last year. Now either these new people will be using fossil fuels in all matters of their lives or they will use green energy. Better get a little busier building those solar panels and windmills. Hold it, we will also have to build more housing, schools, hospitals etc...  You better build even more windmills. My take on China's imports are this.. they had filled their storage to the top with cheap Russian crude and until they burn off the excess in storage they will be short on imports.. now that the Brent & WTI prices have softened they will be back in the market buying.. my guess mid Q2 we'll see the crude prices firm up again to reflect this dynamic.. time will tell if I'm correct on ...more

You will see a change soon. driving season is around the corner and at the moment we are in a historically yearly low point for several reasons.  China will just be the icing on the cake.
