Fun time before Financials.

Guy/gals I know this is a oil play on this stockhouse but for fun what other sector's besides oil play would you consider investing in? For me 1.tech
2.canadian banks (bank of nova Scotia)
             3.pipelines (Oops oil play lol)

REITs ,they are cheaaaappp. NWH.UN was up 5% today ,ERE.UN is discounted .

Another vote for REITs - huge dislocation to the private markets. Especially office based (D.UN, HR, AP, NWH) and health care (CSH, SIE).   We are talking an average of 50-60 percent upside. Banks would be second  for me but there isn't anything like the upside - lower risk though.

Some Canadian techs that I started nibbling on are Bragg, Coveo, Lightspeed and Nuvei. The problem will be the expected tax loss selling which might drop LSPD and NVEI lower so I wouldn't take a full position. Also I bought some Allied Properties REIT. It's a dividend aristocrat and paying 10% at the moment. I think the office space sector has taken a beating but it has ...more

PLTR (AI) as i asked before in one year what will outperform oil names or AI names+22% on earnings too bad we cant off topic any more , 3, 2, 1
Comment by robert41 on Nov 02, 2023 10:39am
I'm good with the off topic as long as it's stock related and not the political bs.. always good to hear legit thoughts from "legit" posters. As for Bte really looking forward to q4 price of oil up nicely over q3.

Yes except that when you were suggesting AI companies, palantir sits at roughly the same sp as it is today , and your other ai "suggestions" are down dramatically. In my case I "suggested" LSPD which is also up 20% today...BEFORE THE POP!

Except you suggested buying AI in late August and September... Nice try!
Comment by Cobalt on Nov 02, 2023 12:53pm
Nice try whay? I never tell anyone to buy or sell , Months ago i said look for a good sell off in the Fall to go long , Sept 17th i wondered if AI would beat BTE a year out, PLTR 15% BTE 5%
Comment by masfortuna on Nov 02, 2023 1:07pm
take away today's jump and you would be down if you bought in September correct? So anybody can pick the low and when it pops claim they made a good call.  will AI gtech outperform oil? Who knows but with ai you need to pick the right company.  With oil, all companies benefit from a rising tide. Essentially I am saying to post something today you think will increase in value ...more

Good grief Mas do we really need this? Exactly what ruins a board one guy decides to rip another if you need to fight why not message each other.
Comment by Cobalt on Nov 02, 2023 1:50pm
I post a few % on a stock and the board is now garbage
Comment by robert41 on Nov 02, 2023 2:03pm
Yah exactly let's keep it civil...

Now Now Cobalt. It's all ood.  It's not a competition between us.  If you are making money I am happy for you.  I replied to your reply to my posts.  It sounded to me that you disagreed with my recommendations and were pushing PLTR. No harm no foul.  Fyi I DO own shares of pltr that I bought at the $8 US mark last year ;)

Put them all on ignore.  Your board cleans up real nice!

I'm long oil, and have been since the depths of 2020. Everytime they spit out an ever increasing divi I'm nibbling away at a few REITs... SRU.UN is my current favorite. Those with good balance sheets, anchor tenants and prime real estate are very attractive.   I'm also watching the banks and tempted to pull the trigger. However as a guy who played in rental properties for ...more
