Slowing? China on Friday reported a number of economic indicators for November, with industrial output expanding at a better-than-expected 6.6 percent, also the fastest in almost two years, and retail sales also gaining a steady 10.1 percent growth year-on-year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics

Yeah Cobalt who knows? I keep on reading that retail and factory/wholesale prices are in deflation because of weakening consumer demand and that youth unemployment is at 20% causing a real headache for the regime in power there. Entire city blocks of huge condo complexes sitting empty for lack of buyers causing many property developers to file for bankruptcy. Evergrande for one. There are many ...more

The Xi Jinping gov't will have to step in to shore up the banks, he can't afford to let his belt and road initiative to falter and while the western world has been increasing rates, the chinese gov't has been dropping rates.. and I think they'll need to drop them further to stave off a credit crunch as their credit/debt is mainly held in China for the bulk of it, so its less of a ...more

Moemoney42, I watch Bloomberg US from time to time. We don't get BNN here. I guess the fear is that if the Chinese start selling a pile of US treasuries to raise cash that will drive treasury prices down and yields up. The yield on the US 10 year treasury is supposed to be the benchmark rate for most other interest rates so if the 10 year yield goes up then so do interest rates despite where ...more
