Refrac, a game changer by all accounts.

"In South Texas, There’s a Refrac Party in Full Swing

When ConocoPhillips acquired Marathon Oil back in May, the $22.5 billion deal crowned COP the largest producer in the Eagle Ford with combined assets of 490,000 net acres, 400 MBOED, and 1,000 new drilling locations. The purchase also added more refrac inventory using COP’s own techniques already at work across its South Texas position. Then came summer with news of more Eagle Ford producers announcing refrac projects to reinvigorate crude production. Suddenly, the Eagle Ford and Austin Chalk have become party central for re-completions of declining wells to pump more oil. And the party ain’t over yet.

Reese Energy Consulting today is following the latest from South Texas, where the economics to refracture vintage wells identified as viable candidates are proving sweet—with initial rates of return typically north of 100% and often exceeding those of new wells. With new, lower-cost tech and tools, and payback between one and two years, refrac activity is expected to more than double this year. Count Eagle Ford producers like Devon Energy, BPX, SilverBow Resources, and Baytex Energy on the party bus, where refracturing has become a key component of their drilling programs and overall strategy.

But it’s Houston-based Verdun Oil Company, one of the last privately held producers in South Texas, that’s been driving that bus since 2018 when it completed the very first full linear isolation refrac in the Eagle Ford. Verdun has since completed 100 refracturing projects which continue to be major contributors to the company’s volumes and bottom line."

I'm trying to find out what a "full linear isolation refrac" is. I tried googling. Is there anybody who can point me to where I can find out? Thanks.

Some of the lingo used with oil gas boggals my mind! Sorry no idea..

Yeah me too. Boggles my mind. I read that Exxon is using nanoparticles and AI in the Permian to get all-in break even costs down to $30 per barrel. So is this new frac tech some way to better direct pressure and flow towards the production wells? Better isolate the production zones so that pressure doesn't bleed off? Why is it a game charger?

Because I don't trust AI. Like my buddy used AI to buy an etf TPT 20-year treasuries. AI Chat GPT said nothing about the fact that the US government runs a $1.5 trillion deficit that the fund via the Fed monetizing US Treasuries every year which may dilute the value of the treasuries if GDP doesn't keep on growing. Yes everything that AI says is true. But is it telling you everything?

To each their own; it provided me with a very nice write-up and real-world use cases, including links for further exploration if desired. side note look how damn correct my posts are with 1 click i run my posts through ai and it rewrites it correct Side note: Observe how accurate my posts become with one click; I run my posts through AI, and it rewrites them correctly.

Lol, plus XOM's new baarels from Guyana. Saudis aren't swing producers any more. XOM is. Saudis don't want a price war with XOM so they're maintaining production cutbacks making room for XOM's new barrels. Exoected to be 1.3 million bpd by 2027 just from Guyana. So rate of supoly growth greater thsn rate of demand growth, yet both growing. Supply growing faster than demand ...more

Bte had better get with it with this new nano, AI refrac tech to get their breakevens way down or XOM gonna gobble them up at a steep discount. XOM didn't become a whale by being nice guys. John D Rockerfeller (Standard Oil) still running things. Lol.

You guys are all nuts ! ..... think about it for a moment ...the world uses upwards of 102,000,000    Barrels per day ...yes per day ...Exxon even with Guyana is a drop in that bucket ....Exxon is not about to under sell their own production outside the u s a ....no ...the market manipulation is a foot and.  I will buy .buy buy almost any e and p company ..looking at the balance ...more

Frank the world could be consuming 200 million bpd and XOM producing their normal 4 million bpd but if supply is only 199 million bpd then the price will go up.  Right now there is more supply coming on line than the demand growth. If Venezuela ever came back online then the surge in supply growth would crash the oil price. Anyway, trying to predict future oil prices is too difficult for me ...more

That's good thinking, Kelvin. I hadn't considered that as something to watch out for, thanks.

Thanks Cobalt, I was just repeating blogs that I read from the following link. I especially like reading "The View from Houston". Btw probable hurricane moving in by Sept 12. Anyway because XOM is integrated with both refining and chemicals where those divisions would see higher profits as their oil feedstock input price went down then they could actually make more money on a ...more
