Who could possibly be interested in this mill?  With current duties, it only break even at $600 lumber??

I agree, seems strange, but the way it is trading, sure looks like something is up? Not sure if it is a takeover or something else? If you had to pick someone, who would you say the likely candiates are to scoop up Conifex Timber?

Yea, doesn't make sense to me. I don't know who would be interesed in that mill and it would probably be better to buy it out of bankruptcy rather than buy the shares with all the company's liabilities. When every major forestry company is reducing their capacity in BC, it wouldn't make sense to buy it especially where it is located. Maybe some private equity firm has alternate ...more

While there could be a take over brewing, it is probably something else, like you say, where it may have to do with control of the company changing hands or a further equity investment happening. They have redone part of their financing recently and were looking to do more on that end. The other thing that "I love about this company" is their very strong BioMass division. I don't know if their biomass plant would be worth that much.  Biomass plants, cogneration plants, whatever more environmental favourable name they give them.....they're really just giant fireplaces. They burn biomass which produces steam which turns a turbine to generate electricity.  They are considered acceptable only within the operations of a lumber mill.  50% of any ...more

I've been waiting for a takeover since 2022. :) So, curb your entusiasm, guys. Again, the CEO doesn't want to sell, and there are some big shareholders who bought at ~$6/share; they probably don't want to sell either. No one will give this kind of price.
