Share Repurchases

Hey, does anyone know why West Fraser and Canfor stopped buying back shares in December?  According to SEDI records, WFG didn't make any repurchases in December and CFP stopped after the first week of December.  They both were making repurchases and then stopped.

The previous year, in December of 2022, they kept repurchasing shares.  West Fraser's share price was around $75 USD back then and Canfor's share price was even higher than it was today.

It's just odd that they stopped.

If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Good eye. Agreed that does seem a bit odd.  Probably nothing but a chance the two companies merge. About 5 years ago there is no way that could happen in BC - major competition issues.  Now that West Fraser has sold it's BC pulp mills and Canfor has closed multiple sawmills and 1 pulp mill it seems like a more likely possibility.
