Buy, Hold, or Sell?

I've been watching CHR and AC for the last year, and more so since the new variants arrived on the scene. Every other sector has held fairly well since the new variants' arrival. Are we in the worst of the pandemic now, or in two weeks from now? Will the airlines bounce in May?

CHR seems to be doing well financially, which has surprised me. Not sure what to expect from their Q1 report, May 13th. Maybe best to wait? It looks a bit like a guessing game at this point.

Thoughts?

Bookworn Not sure how you think they are doing well financially!  Unless you understand what you are reading financial statements can be somewhat confusing!

Bookworm I will give you a pretty simple examply.  I own a manufacturing facility I sell 5 million worth of merchandise Accounts payable 5 million is an asset.  I purchase 3 million worth of good to make my finished product.  I now have payables of 3 million.  On the surface that would tell you I have a net profit of 2 million.  But what if you look at my payables and they ...more

Thanks givemeabreak1. I had another look at their financials. My mistake. I thought they had more cash and receivables. When the travel restrictions ease, the line-ups to travel are going to be huge. Lots of pent up demand. Nonetheless, better to hold (maybe sell), for now.

If you think it's going to hit low $3's you should sell all your shares now.

So people sold because they were disappointed CHR issued stocks at $4.60. We are now at $4.20, people should agree it was a very good move. No, people who thought there was no point in issuing stocks now sell because they feel CHR is in a cash crunch. People also sell because they are afraid CHR will issue stocks to the federal government to access a 1% interest loan, while people however feel CHR ...more

It's called irony, Tommy. I was just describing the weird moment we are going through. FYI I am fully invested in CHR, though I realize we are at cross-current. Of course there are a number of things going on for CHR (bullish), but "people" are so focussed on the short term that my head too is spinning. CHR stock price (quote) and stock mid-term value, I suspect, might be quite ...more

Your criticism of my post is fair... if your facts were correct. The 19 Dash 8-300's that were removed from leases with Air Canada were not the 3 Dash 8-400's that had leases announced recently. First of all they are different types of planes. Those 3 Dash 8-400's came from the repossessions of the previous year from Flybe, Virgin Australia etc. It was mentioned in the previous MDA ...more

Thanks, Tak. This is real good information you are sharing with us. I have put a thumb up for this post. As for my own ironic post, it simply tried to encapsulate what I am reading on this board, circular arguments included. My take is that today is a buying opportunity because of the closing of interprovincial barriers. Nothing to do with the general picture which I see as positive. Buying and ...more

I think traders are selling off before what is probably going to be a brutal q1 earnings, trying to play the swings, I'm assuming that's what Tommy is doing (it's a zero sum game someone's gotta lose for another to win) Long term picture still remains intact. I think the biggest 2 potential upsides for Chorus is what the bought deal funds will be mainly used for, and the 19x Dash ...more
