Thoughts on the bought deal??

What do you think of the recent news this morning - 85M bought deal of debentures?

seems like restructuring debt paying old debt with new debt at better terms? Cleaning up the books a bit.. or is there more under the surface?

WHERE IS @TAKAFUJI when you need em haha

I'm not following too in depth as I have no position in CHR and don't plan on starting one so I may be wrong about some of this stuff, but I think you can use my ideas and views on the subject. General thoughts on the subject, providing they can get enough demand for it for these 5.75% debentures: Pros: - refinances debt at lower rate saving a bit of money possibly offset by fees for the ...more

You can try to read between the lines but imo management is being pro-active to take advantage of historical dirt cheap rates during the worst economic storm ever to hit the aerospace industry. Long term it's a win.

No lines to be read between, it's happening in plain site. The type of moves the company has to proceed with to keep things moving, whilst facing this pandemic. Can't fault management/ or praise them for that matter.. seems like an easy decision that anyone would make. Need to squeeze out some extra income by way of churning old debt with new debt at a tiny bit better of a rate and get ...more

Rates will inevitably rise, and when they do, today's rate will be far cheaper than what's coming.

First off thanks for replying and providing some actual analysis. ding ding ding... that was my intial thought on getting rid of the 2024 debenture indebtness as to remove the security placed on the dash 8s and to sell/part out. What the financials look on that I haven't a clue - is management making any moves possible in panic mode to bolster some revenues, or is there a lot to be made off ...more

No problem, currently don't have to do much DD as there's a lack of news coming from what i'm invested in so I'm browsing other stocks that i've exited positions of to see what's been going on with them and whether I was wrong or right to sell then revising my decision making approach accordingly. re:chorus I'm guessing either board is pressuring them to monetize ...more

Tak's the only one on this board with actual insight and analysis regarding CHR's business and he/she doesn't even own Chorus anymore, it's sad actually... the rest here just seem to share their take on the pandemic and when things will get better.  I've learned a lot from you, and you've helped myself and others understand the core of CHRs business - so ...more

There is 2 reasons for doing this and they both are essentially saying the same thing.  It appears they like many fear the Covid hit will last longer than expected.  So the first, thing is really not the interest rate as a 1/4 of a point after cost of restructuring the debentures is neither here nor their.  The biggies is extention of the debt!  The other thing is a little back ...more

I don't know why some of you think the average person doesn't want to fly. I just flew YYZ to YDF and Pearson was packed, PET was packed, and YDF was packed with moose hunters and tourists from everywhere. Old people, young people, families with babies... every flight was full. Travelling with COVID protocols is not difficult.

You're talking coivd but the selloff today is not covid. Old news. The media is pumping a new headline for the markets to get rattled over. Covid is old news. If you want to be a seller based on fear of no one flying for years to come because of covid go ahead, but I will be buying cheap shares soon.
