Two interesting points from Eric's webinar today

There was an interesting question raised in today webinar.... Will this income fund stock up energy stock which at present does not issue dividends but management has promised some dividends down the road ? Eric's response was it depended on how "near" the dividend will come and how much he believes in this dividend will materialise... In general, if dividend outlook is positive despite not with dividend issued yet, it also depends on whether he can "sort of include" this stock in by way of call options...  PS:I am not familiar with call options, so don't understand what this meant.

Both BTE and CJ has no dividend issued, but CJ's forthcoming dividend is brewing really hot in black-and-white in presentation and most people suspect in Q2 or Q3 2022... BTE sort of hinted some time in mid 2023..

However, there is one point... In the prospectus, Npoint Energy Income Fund focuses on mid to large cap for Canada and US energy firms (cf Npoint Energy Fund focuses on small to mid cap  for Canadian energy firms...  I own both BTE and CJ...Both BTE and CJ are in Npoint Energy Fund, but wonder whether mid to large cap limitation for Npoint Energy Income Fund might exclude these two.

No. No intention to slam you here, but you need to consider the recent history of this company if you're trying to understand the dividend vs. debt discussion. Throughout 2020. CJ's management spent a good chunk of their time trying to fend off their bankers.  At the end of 2020, Net debt to adjusted funds flow was 5.6X (CJ's normal target is 2.0) and the company spent several ...more
