Sold a large chunk.

Been getting divs since Feb bought in at 7.11 ..... but I have to go back to day trading and cashing out each month now so sold at 7.15

Holding long doesnt pay in this sector. Buy in when its right, take a div (or make own on good days), get out. The above were my high price shares. Rest are all 6.50 or so so nice cushion but 105% payout ratio wasnt good news and oil is not doing what it should be. FInancial market is just too big and corrupt to hold.

This was alot safer than GXE though where those people though they were pure genious and mocked me for moving that cash to CJ. OK ... well, each their own.

When buy and hold when you can trade and mold? - mold your own divs in swings, keep risk to a min.

Lashing, agree completely.  I used to be hold when CJ divi was 2 to 4 cents. Learned my lesson the hard way. CJ is so predictable my trading has been good. The mornings, closing and Friday closing after 3.30 pm are magic.  Pottsy

I am not sure how a 4 cent swing is a beat unless you are able to do it more than once a month. Pottsy seems to have made out the best of the posters swinging the stock and manged to grab 5 or 6 times the divie in one swing without too much time elapsing (which means he didn't have to watch it too long either).  I think he managed to get back in in time to grab the div which is a sweet ...more

Thanks Quint1, missed the divi this month, but pleased with my buy and sell strategy, nice gain this month. I set a buy at 7.03 on Friday and when I checked at 5 pm I missed the buy by 1 cent then she closes at 7.12. Oh well next week. Noticing that there are a growing group of traders on this site now.  P

Well it is hard to argue with your results so far Pottsy.  I am guessing you managed another 5xish swing this month based on your selling buying posts although at the moment you are not invested.  Do you feel that FOMO of not being in that VW was feeling or do feel safer not being invested as lashing stated?  Just to be clear you are swinging your entire CJ position and not just a ...more

Thanks again Quint1, to be honest we all know on this forum that there are no "gurus". My luck, and sometimes failure is driven by a database with inputs and outputs that looks at any period between 5 years to two weeks specific to CJ. The model was built by a friend of mine in Scotland who gave it to me free in Excel.  It is correct so far 61% of the time but again to be honest it ...more

Nice to have a buddy that can model a software buy and sell platform for you.   Was today the day to jump back in?  Oil took a dive this morning for no discernible reason that I can see. This chart tells me if it stays down there for any amount of time CJ should bounce around $6.80. https://www.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/CARDINAL-ENERGY-LTD-15252880/graphics/ But only if it ...more

It has bounced back to $7.02 as I write this. I bought back in yesterday at 7.06 but kept in today I got "error"  so do nothing. There are 2 camps. Goldman S says second half of the year will see oil to $90 plus. But the other camp is saying increased non OPEC countries cranking up output plus the China risk which seems to becoming worse.   My take, oil will bounce as ...more

Thanks Pottsy your honesty is refreshing to say the least.  I expect a runup to the ex-div date so have little doubt that you will be able to trade out at the divy rate of $.06 or higher before then.  If I do not get that $6.80 low before that I won't bother trying to buy pre-ex-div and will let my core collect it and keep the powder dry for another day maybe even another stock.  ...more

Hey Quint1, all in or all out. CJ is the only one I trade. My others are banks at much lower divi so I leave them alone.    P

Hey Q1, well done you called 6.80 and got 6.83, hope you bought. I'm still at 7.06.    P

Nope I did not.  $6.80 was the target.  I see it bounced today with oil and I expect a runup with ex-div coming. I may have to wait until after or find another buy. GLTY and all
