I wondered why so much volume with CMK today, over 7million shares changed hands in all three exchnanges. Aparently there was a rumour in Wall Street that WLT was to be bought out by BHP billiton and that according to this article quoted in the link above lifted all the coal stocks today. CMK did not go very far it was simply a turnover of shares from one fund to another also called "churning" in the technical lingo and that reflects uncertainty and indecision by the participants. According to a technical analyst on BNN yesterday, at this stage of the bull market commodities and M&A's are the main trends. And another analyst in the "market call tonight" this evening, when asked about CMK, he said that this company is a candidate for take over. That is all the gossip from the grape vine folks. Hope something will come true.

do they have enough monies to keep the pumps running or will a decision be made to late the mine flood market for coal may stay low for years to come

Miner8740, Are you serious ?  If they let the mine flood, shareholders drown with the mine.   CMK has indicated that the mine is on care and maintenance and a skeleton, but core crew, is employed to keep it that way.   Stone has indicated that talks are underway with 4 potential buyers and they are hopeful of a Q1, 2013 restart.   OK, that is perhaps optimistic..

Howie, You sound bitter ?   Didn't you make good $ on CMK ?   There were lots of opportunities from $0.25 to $4.50     Now is a better time to accumulate, no ?    I am .     BTW, am still underwater, but as long as CMK survives this downdraft, we will all be OK and nicely rewarded.   It is a gamble, no doubt.&

Well, only time will tell.    Last time CMK was at these levels, it took about 1.5 years to get to $5.00 in the coal commodity cycle. So I am accumulating now with a longer vision on decent returns. My avg price is still higher than what CMK is trading at for the moment.     Let's check back in a year or 6 months and see where we are at. SD

I view it the same as you sanddevil. Everything is cyclical with met coal prices, and i don't think we will be at these low prices forever. But keep in mind, it might take quite some time before it reaches even a $1, let alone $4-$5 levels again, so in the interim you might want to consider swing trading a bit to lock in your profits, while you wait for your long shares to come through GLTA

The question is, can CMK make it through this cycle? Apparently, they burn $900k a month with very low cash on hand while owing a interest payment in February which, after doing some small math, they cannot pay. Without finding some cash very soon it looks like they are going to be in hot water. Lets hope off take agreements or coal sales happen within the next 2 months. Even then, that is

I guess you don't know too much about business...there are many costs involved...insurance, leases to maintain, accounting fees, payroll, interest payments, equipement upkeep, etc...and oh yeah don't forget Bate's heart pills..lol....anyways good luck and I hope you buy a whole big whack of cmk shares...I am sure you will do well..:) JMHO GLTA
