HE* SPs

All these HE* ETFs SPs have not stood up very well, despite great yields, IMO. Anyone else?

The market is up  and these sps remain relatively depressed.

Ditto--am a little disappointed---only have a 6 month track record---hopefully they will pick up when the word gets out.

Look at what the fund is supposed to do before judging.  These are covered calls on dividend paying stocks and the whole point is yield to offset the wobbly market gyrations or havent you noticed?  The whole point imo is the yield. Also look at the companies involved This is not a high growth mkt and wont be for years to come. So yield is what is needed. YOu can do covered calls ...more

Agree,  funds are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing---and in a time of "wobbly market gyrations. " If the "whole point is the yield", they are certainly delivering!---just wonder why is the SP languishing?

I hardly suspect these are performing as advertised.  They are not only capturing all the downside, but actually exceeding to the downside and then giving you far, far less of the upside than originally expected, in my opinion base on what I've heard from the etf managers.  If the dividends start to become less and less then I'll have to move this etf from the ...more

I won't argue with you regarding the downside performance, the charts support you.  I will give you two possible explanations for their less then stellar performance to date.  1) these Horizon covered call income funds are less then a year old and where born into a bear market.  This may account for their low daily/weekly trading volume as compared to similar EFT' ...more

regarding this market, I'm definately adding to my reits and other div payers on the dips, but no longer to these horizon products.  I probably overstated my dislike for these products on my previous message but I think there are better ways to be defensive in choppy markets and at the same time give you better upside on days the markets rally.Anyway, I hope the divs continue, within ...more

hi plittle.  I have a little of hex, hep, and hee.  I guess the divs have been fairly consistent, save for HEP most recently but I understand the amounts can move up and down each month.  I hope they stay as consistent.  AugustHEX: 12.654, HEE: 11.854HEP: 18.14SeptemberHEX: 11.353HEE: 13.237HEP: 17.974OctoberHEX: 11.298HEE: 13.886HEP: 17.761NovemberHEX: 11.233HEE: 13.011HEP: 11 ...more

Hi TheManogold.... I agree that the share price does get hit as hard .... It would be interesting to get an analysis of the Nav vs the sp vs the equities on a daily basis. How the etf operates internally IE Nav protection w call writing vs sp ? is my question. How can we determine this... IE is the sp dropping below the Nav? I still think they are generally all good to accumulate on dips ...more
