Concern generated the general approval in the Environmental Commission of the Convention of a norm that nationalizes the companies of exploitation and exploration of strategic assets, "passing to the national domain all the assets of said companies and their subsidiaries related to their activity in territory national", according to the norm. The President must make this provision effective within a maximum of one year from the entry into force of the new Constitution. The initiative states that the amount of compensation will be set by the Comptroller General of the Republic, and must correspond to the "book value as of December 31, 2021, according to IFRS standards."

It is a pretty big leap from the Commission to becoming law. The commission is heavily weighted to the left and it was only and 11-8 vote. Getting this into law will be far more difficult but I am sure it will stunt any investment in Chile. The lack of investment will bode well for copper prices and in the end this will cause a lot of pain in Chile for its citizens. The Boric honeymoon may be ...more

What did they say, they would pay book value, December 2021 .. where all this money come from? Banks! .. Proposal led by a 30 yr old history school teacher .. that what you voted for, to take you to the next level by a school teacher of history? Good luck. Look, nothing changes, military coups in Africa, extreme politics in latin america, and cold war self-annihilation worries in Eastern Europe ..

Seriously banks gonna loan them money to buy up companies?! Too funny/ They elect children with children ideas, it's silly. But congress is split down the middlle .. give them time they'll  understand they voted for children ..
