Rights Dividend ?

Could someone please explain to me what this deal with Debuntures mean to shareholders?  They are to be issued on October 6 to shareholders on record September 1

The rights give the holder the right to buy a debenture at 133. I think that was the price. so, you will get 1 right per share . You can sell the right to someone, you can let the right expire ,or you can use the right to buy a debenture. they did this maybe 8 yrs ago. The debs were 100 then. go to csu web site to see how the inflation debs calculate the interest rate each year. I bought the ...more

Thanks so much for the info.  I was reading that it maybe a sign of debt problems and will cause a sell.   Sorry for being such a newbie about all of this and I appreciate any help.

so if we are interested in participating in holding some of the debt through a debenture. Then we exercise the rights we have been given by the expiry date which is the end of the month. I assume this is correct. So do I just phone up the broker if I'm a self investor and have him do it, I think I reoresent 90 % of people who are looking for non professional advice on this

You may need to buy some to have enough to buy the amount of debs you want. yes, call your broker and order x amount of debs using y amount of rights. you have to have the amount of cash in your account to pay fir the debs inc accrued intrest
