Conocos shares...

Cenovus is planning on paying down billions in debt going forward. With higher oil prices this should be easily attainable. Why not make a deal now with Conoco to purchase all thier outstanding shares for some agreed upon price,(say $11.50),for arguments sake.Conoco would do better now, however Cenovus going forward,(if they believe in thier own company, would reap the rewards later.Cenovus, could also resell these shares to institutional funding if and when interest peaks. This might also be done now in combination with existing fund holders. This could be like a huge buyback of shares, but not having to be approved by the sec. Please like if you agree the idea could work,or please feel free to thrash this idea.STRONGER BUY TODAY THEN WHEN WE WERE AT $3.00!!!!!!

I refer you to what the company did to the Preferreds.   If CVE such a great investment then you should ask why COP selling and why CVE have not indicated that they would buyback??? All just my opinion/view/thinking.

Yes, good simple answers.   But when all said and done.... Shares are being SOLD and not BOUGHT.    At any rate, The MARKET will look after the Share Price if management takes care of not only the Company but SHAREHOLDERS also.      Unfortuneately, as seen, Preferred shareholders not treated very well, and as seen, even commons getting it also with massive ...more

Interesting emphasis. Are those all words you just learned?   These share sales were already priced into the stock by anyone who knows anything about the company. The only reason COP waited this long is because they wanted a better price for shares as they sold (otherwise they would have looked pretty foolish taking a huge loss).  No argument that COP managed this sale really well, ...more

Cop never planned on being a long term holder. When they deal was done on 2017 COP said in the news release they would sell the shares in the near term to fund buybacks. That's why COP is selling. I'm not sure about this part, but I recall they were stuck in a lockup for some period, and unfortunately during that time CVE share price fell dramatically, as a result COP was a holder for much ...more
