You can get GICs yielding 4.1% last I checked, maybe higher
now. Zero Risk, 4.1%
Now given that Bonds and Preferreds have RISK, they should be offering higher yields than a GIC !!!
But everything been Manipulated and Twisted, nothing makes sense.
All just my opinion/view/thinking

I'm sorry but what GICs are yielding 4.1%? >>> Guaranteed Investment Certificate - Long-Term and Compound Interest Term Non-registered and Registered (TFSA, RSP, RIF, RESP) 1 year 2.80% 2 years 3.00% 3 years 3.10% 4 years 3.15% 5 years 3.50% https://www.td.com/ca/en/personal-banking/personal-investing/products/gic/gic-rates-canada/

You can get up to 50% GIC with "market linked GIC".... Again Zero risk on principle as I understand. Might be something to look into after a market crash. Zero Risk. All just my opinion/view/thinking.

Thanks. Maybe the Canadian government can restart the CSB program. US savings bonds (I-bonds) yielding close to 10%, but only avaiable to US citizens. How about it Canada? Teach youngsters to save instead of blowing their allowance on Roblox. https://www.treasurydirect.gov/indiv/research/indepth/ibonds/res_ibonds_iratesandterms.htm

Still a worthless investment at 4%. That's 2% after tax. Or less. May as well keep it under the mattress. At least my cash won't be spent by government on something stupid. They can spend my taxes on that but not my savings as well. (.

especially bad when annualized inflation is >7%. Worth more buying extra spagetti and beans than to let someone else use of your GIC money for a 2% fee. There are plenty of >2% day just having oil stocks.
