HSBC Buyout Metrics
While there is not a lof metrics on Royal Bank's buyout of HSBC Canada, the one published one was $134 billion in assets and the sale price was $13.5 billion.
CWB assets were $40 billion last quarter, so on an equvilent ratio basis, that would put the takeout value of CWB at just over $4 billion or a stock price of $44, up 57% from the current price.
Not that I expect CWB to be taken out, but it certainly would be an easy purchase for one of the other big 5 looking to expand in Western Canada. And you get a 4.8% dividend in the mean time.
