Good Results Announced

You guys that picked this up in the 20-23 range a short while ago will benefit from this earnings announcement. The CWB has posted decent results considering the mess the last quarter was. Growth was not spectaclar but return on equity and the efficany ratio are both improving, Capital Ratios are doing well, provisions for losses are in line and actual loan losses are at the low end of normal range. The diversifcation into the east is finally starting to pay dividends. Significantly better results for the quarter than Laurentian or Scotia posted.

Posted this back in Mar 2023. Now they post another strong quarter, at least compared to most of the Banks. Anyone that bought in the 20-23 range in early 2023 is laughing all the way to and from the Bank. If have a sell in at $30, and ifthey sell, I will take my profits and move back to the sidelines and wait for the next trading opportunity.

Are you aware of what gives them the "upper hand" for the profit?

Chirish - main contributors, improving Net Interest Margin, good loan and deposit growth, the in-house deposits lowers funding costs and contributes to better Net Interest Margin, and they did a better job than most of their peers in controlling expenses. They also took lower LLPs than most of the others. It is worthwhile taking the time to read the earnings releases they provide. https ...more
