Definitely not the second poorest country. Not even close. 15 billion GDP. Trust me there's about 8-9 countries that have less. Who comes up with this nonsense. Give it a rest!!! You and your propaganda posts couldn't be more wrong.

probably several ways to calculate country wealth.  According to the below, both Honduras and Haiti are poorer by GDP/person.  Nicaragua is 129 in world.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita

In any case, everyone should read the whole WaPo article. It describes how Ortega and his gang have turned Nicaragua into a police state complete with detention, torture, murder, disappearances and exile of opposition.  Because Nicaragua is so poor, the maintenance of an extensive police apparatus has only been possible by funding from development banks (and presumably gold exports).  ...more
