NEXT WEEK

SO, what are you "guys" thinking lies in store for us from next Monday to Thursday?  TechTarget, Marcel7, Adamchess, Bullchart or anyone else who cares to share a "sincere" opinion?  $38 to $41 trading range all the way to Wednesday close?

They way this has been trading I am pretty cautious about making a prediction. I am definitely more interested in where this goes after earnings release. I see that there has been a lot of selling pressure at and just about $40 CDN. On CXRX there always seems to be an ask of 10 lots at that price. I am not sure if this is because shorts are trying to add to their short position, or keep it in that ...more

Thanks.  GL to you, as well.

I agree that someone (plural) is trying to acquire a large position in CXR in the sub-$40 while shaking out those who recently bought in the $25 to $30 range before letting the sp go higher after Thurday's earnings report. The shorts would be wise to cover at $37 I am guessing. I am happy to see that Zacks is rating CXRX as a #1 strong buy!! Maybe we see $50 to $60 CAD sp in a couple of weeks. ...more

Marcel, thanks for all your analysis.  You made some excellent posts and I really respect your opinion.  I am very bullish as well and will be holding long-term.  For long-term holders, I don't think trying to time the dips in order to pick up a few more shares at a dollar or 2 less is going to mean much a year or 2 down the road.  If the SP is going to $100+ in a year or ...more

If I'm interpreting this correctly it looks like shorters stand to lose a minimum of $450,500 in the next few weeks for every $1 increase in the SP above the average strike price as they are forced to cover their bets.  Shares Short (as of Nov 2, 2015)3: 450.50k Short Ratio (as of Nov 2, 2015)3: 0.30 Short % of Float (as of Nov 2 ...more

Nevermind, found the source on Yahoo Finance. Thanks for posting. This definitely shows what we expected, the short position has grown and is weighing on the SP. I am usually invested in the US markets and did not realize when the short data is provided by the TSX. I had looked befor and it appeared to be behind a pay wall. I regularly scrape a lot of data from stocks on Yahoo and will have to add ...more

@Marcel: "If it shows a large increase to Oct 31, I will be pretty certain of a pop after earnings." Can you explain the cause and effect a bit more? More shorts mean larger squeeze? I would think that more shorts may also give them more reasons to drop the price. In the meantime, a reminder to everyone to NOT set a stop loss on their shares and put them up for sale at $100 a month out ...more

If there has been a big increase in short positions they will have to cover eventually and as the story turns positive this will add to momentum and buying pressure, which will increase the pressure to close out their position. My thought is that the larger the short position the more the price has been held in check due to short pressure. Soon after earnings the blackout on insider buying will ...more
