Share Price and Stuff

I've been having great difficulty thinking of anything useful to post on this board, as of late. I am a fundamentals-based thinker. In that respect, I am very impressed with everything that we do know or have been told, conce ring curgent aND future opwrations. Usually, Stockcoach posts what I am already thinking, and I could simply post "ditto" , and it would suffice. As far as the recent stock price movement, I am convinced that (in this current void of earnings information) it can be almost totally attributed to automatic trading algorithms, based mostly on momentum. On this point, I agree most with fdfd12, in that there is probably no variable that you can think of that can't be written into these algorithms - including movements in the IBB. This style of trading seems to be the latest craze. For those of you who haven't followed it much, take a visit to the Quantopian website, or google the Sept 4, 2013 article in Forbes magazine, titled "Quants-R-US? Algorithmic Trading Trickles Down To Individual Investors". As i've said, I believe that fundamentals wI'll rule - over the long-term. I am not shaken by short-term price movements. Although I have managed my own portfolio, in the past, I am now working with a wealth management firm, a partner of which most of you know. We talk on a regular basis, and they are following CXR very closely. I have a substantial amount of hard-earned money invested in this company, and as far as I know and believe: it is "full steam ahead". Longs just need to be patient. P.S. fdfd12, you are probably correct, in that it may take even longer this time to get the financial reports together for Q4, given the recent business combination. GLTA Longs

Thanks for sharing. One other thing that the floor trader clarified to my broker is that shorting is much harder in Canada as opposed to USA. For one,-  shorting is not allowed on any locked in accounts such as RSP, RIF, TFSA, LIRA, LIF etc. It is only allowed on cash accounts. Thus the difference in short activity between TSX and south of the border. In addition, the notion that if you put a ...more

we popped $30 in a fairly short time and have simply retraced 1/2 the gain. Pretty simple in my mind: TA is a fact and in this whole market has been trading more on technicals this month. We are building a new base at this range for the inevitable leg up.

I agree. CXR certainly isn't trading based on fundamentals as of late, as is the case with most stocks. Panic selling has been taking place across the globe so I fail to see the logic as to why some think CXR should be any different. The bashers will take any downward price movement, for any reason, and place blame on the company. With that being said, CXR hasn't stabilize yet and didn' ...more

PUMA1; INCORRECT; we went from $25 to 59$ so in fact, yes a FIB. re-tracement but a 61.8% re-tracement. matter of fact, a PERFECT 61.8% re-tracement. Where does it go to from here?? well nobody knows but a trader would have a stop with a close under $38. I have not been posting much as I really do not have much to add other than it seems the fundamentals are still in place and one would think that ...more

slightfan, future direction of the company will not be determined with the next quarter, It will take few quarters, to see how new acquisitions are parring out. At least that's how I feel about it.

never meant to imply future quarter is all or nothing. But CEO put out some target numbers and if well achieved or surpassed, then credibility should zoom up and that is why I mention next quarter is so important; CREDIBILITY AND EXECUTION. In the end, nobody knows for sure but these are a couple of the most important metrics that big money likes to key in on. There are of course others; future ...more
